The very foundations of the Republic rocked in the conflict, and the spirit of secession and disunion, thought to have been exercised in 1850, again raised its head. Samuel Nelson of New York was appointed in 1845, and was the last survivor of the Court as constituted at this time, living until 1872. Robert G.
